Leia loves all sorts of outdoor activities, spending time with family, and reading.

When asked about what she loves most about her job Leia stated, “I have wanted to be a vet ever since I was a little girl… I love everything I do, all the clients I meet, and all the wonderful people I work with.”

Dr. Michele Dangaran has been working in the veterinary medical field since 1994 and joined our team at the Guernsey Veterinary Clinic in 2003. Dr. Dangaran completed a bachelors of science in biology from Hiram College. She received an associate’s degree in veterinary technology from Columbus State Community College. She then graduated the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Dangaran has one dog and three cats (plus any neighborhood cat that might stop by for food); all have come to her as rescues.

When asked why she chose this career Dr. Dangaran stated, “A fascination with animals and the need to care for them is at the core of who I am.”

Dr. Nikki Freshwater has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2004 and joined our team at the Guernsey Veterinary Clinic in March 2010. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Ohio University, and graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.

Dr. Freshwater grew up in nearby Dresden and went to Tri-Valley High School.

Dr. Freshwater is very close with her family. She also enjoys spending time on her farm where she has 4 goats, 3 dogs, and 5 cats.

When asked about the best part of her job, Dr. Freshwater responded, “interacting with friends and neighbors to help keep their furry friends healthy and happy”.

Dr. Michelle Santangelo joined our team at the Guernsey Veterinary Clinic in June 2010. She has been working in the veterinary field since 1999, after she graduated from Kenyon College with a Bachelor’s degree in Honors Biology, and before she was admitted into Ohio State’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Class of 2004. After graduating from OSU, she worked as a mixed animal practitioner for 6 years before joining Guernsey Veterinary Clinic. Her special interests at work include soft tissue surgery, dentistry and behavior.

She and her husband, also a veterinarian, live just outside of Byesville with their 6 dogs and 5 cats in an old farmhouse they are slowly renovating. When not stripping wallpaper, spackling dry wall, or painting, she enjoys vegetable gardening, hiking, playing with the dogs, and reading with a cat (or two) in her lap.
